~Need Based Evangelism...
God's Word is a book of Good News: News that God loves sinners, that His Son Jesus died and rose again for sinners, and that the Holy Spirit imparts new, born-again life to sinners! At LVPC we joyfully proclaim this Good News of God's reign over the hearts and lives of His people. We proclaim that the Church isn't for good people, but for people who know that they have a desperate need for God, and that apart from His kindness, compassion, and forgiveness, we have no hope in this world or in eternity. That's our first work as a church: the ministry of evangelism (from the Greek word euaggelion, "good gossip.")
In John 1, we read of a man named Andrew who became friends with Jesus. The very first thing Andrew did after meeting the Lord, was to introduce his brother Simon to Jesus. That's what our TEAM ANDREW does at LVPC. Team Andrew labors to introduce people to our friend, Jesus, and to do that in a way that is sensitive to the real felt needs of our contacts.

~Life-Related Bible Study.

Kids at table
AT LVPC we are committed to growing life-long students of God's Word, the Bible. We affirm that the Bible teaches "what man is to believe concerning God, and what duty God requires of man." (Westminster Shorter Catechism #3 ). In the Old Testament, we read of a priest named Ezra, who "had prepared his heart to seek the Law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel" (Ezra 7:10). Likewise, our TEAM EZRA provides opportunities for studying God's Word for all ages.Come visit either (or both!) of our Adult Sunday School classes. The Crawford Class, taught by Steve Evans, meets in the front-left overflow room of the sanctuary. The Disciples' Class, taught by Pastor Davidson, meets downstairs in the fellowship hall. Nursery, Children's, and Youth classes are also held downstairs in rooms off the fellowship hall.  Our Wednesday night youth ministry, Solomon's Porch, also meets in the Youth Den off the fellowship hall.  Or visit one of our home-based small groups on Sunday or Wednesday nights. No matter if you've never cracked the Bible open in your life, or if you're a veteran student of Scripture, there's a place for you to study the Bible at LVPC.

~Inspiring Worship.
It's been said that "God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in Him." Worship is what happens when God's people are completely satisfied in Him. As we enjoy His presence, as we lay our lives before Him, as we speak our deepest needs to Him, as we remember that He is our God and we are his people (Revelation 21:3), He is glorified in our midst. That's worship.
At LVPC we worship God according to the ways that He's instructed us to worship Him-through the sacraments of baptism and the Lord's Supper, through music and song, through prayer, through giving, through the reading and preaching of God's Word. We are blessed with a beautiful, recently renovated sanctuary as our house of worship.
Our TEAM ASAPH (pronounced AY-saf) directs the ministry of Inspiring Worship at LVPC. Your talent is needed on the Team! Chris Fryar, our Choir Director, is always recruiting new voices. communionOr speak to Team Leader Steven Evans about your interest in playing a musical instrument, helping plan worship services, running the sound system, or participating in any other way in our corporate worship.

~Global Missions...
The Bible teaches that the ultimate goal of history is a time to come when "the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea" (Habakkuk 2:14). To that end, we send out God's ambassadors (called "missionaries") to every nation, tribe, people group, and language to proclaim the reign of God and the message of reconciliation to God through Jesus Christ. At the command of Christ (Matthew 28:18-20) our missionaries scatter across the globe to make followers of Jesus from all nations. In February 2007, LVPC sent a team of our own short term missionaries to Romania to share the gospel and strengthen the church there.  In 2008, we hope to send another short term missions team abroad, as we continue our work of local missions at home.  Furthermore, with our prayers and financial giving, LVPC supports half a dozen missionaries throughout the world, several of whom serve in countries "closed" to Christian activity.
Our denomination, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, has a special missions commitment to the part of the world known as the "10-40 Window," that region stretched from 10 degrees south of the equator to 40 degrees north of the equator. This particular region includes many nations under the spiritual tyranny of Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and state-sanctioned Atheism.
Our denomination also has a unique partnership with the Presbyterian Church of Argentina, which petitioned the EPC a few years ago to send them Christian workers to help revitalize their struggling churches. The Argentine Presbytery of Saint Andrew is healthy and growing today as a result of EPC missions efforts in Argentina.
In Acts chapter 13, the Holy Spirit told the church in Antioch to "separate to Me Barnabas and Paul for the work to which I have called them." These 2 men were commissioned to go into Asia Minor and Europe preaching the gospel and making followers of Christ. At LVPC our TEAM PAUL & BARNABAS keeps the focus of Global Missions before us at all times.
Could it be that God is calling you to vocational missions? Or to a short-term mission trip? Explore that call with us at LVPC!

~Practical Service...
The Lord Jesus, speaking about Himself, said "Even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45). Jesus is the Chief of Servants, and we who follow Him are called to serve others in practical ways.
The Apostle Paul had a young protégé named Timothy who was especially noted for his servant's heart. Paul once wrote concerning Timothy, "I have no one else like him, who sincerely cares for your needs" (Philippians 2:20). At LVPC, we sincerely care for others, and we seek to demonstrate that care through deeds of practical service. Our TEAM TIMOTHY works to identify needs in our church family and community, and to organize efforts to meet those needs in practical ways.
Also, in 2008 Team Timothy will be partnering with other area EPC churches to send a team of servants to the Gulf Coast to work in the ongoing Hurricane Katrina disaster relief. Won't you be a part?
